Why we have guidelines
SocialSpot helps people who are physically near each other connect. That only works if everyone feels safe. These guidelines apply to everything on your profile, including your photo, name, bio and links, and to how you treat people you meet through the app. They are part of our Terms of Use.
What isn’t allowed
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Don’t post or link to:
- Nudity, sexual content, or sexual solicitation
- Harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, or encouraging anyone to harm themselves
- Hate speech or content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age
- Graphic violence, or promotion of terrorism or violent extremism
- Anything involving minors in a sexual or exploitative way. SocialSpot is for adults 18+ only, and we report child sexual exploitation to the NCMEC and law enforcement
- Impersonation, fake profiles, or using someone else’s photos
- Spam, scams, fraud, or selling illegal goods or services, including drugs and weapons
- Sharing someone else’s private information, such as their address, phone number or location, without consent
- Using SocialSpot to follow, track or monitor another person
Reporting and blocking
- Report: open the profile, tap the menu, and choose Report. Pick a reason and add details if you can.
- Block: choose Block from the same menu. A blocked user can’t see you on the map or in their Nearby list, and you won’t see them.
- Email: you can also report to support@socialspot.club with “Safety report” in the subject.
We review reports within 24 hours. If a profile violates these guidelines, we remove the content and suspend or permanently ban the account that posted it.
Staying safe in person
- Meet new people in public places, and tell a friend where you’re going.
- Turn off Share Location whenever you don’t want to be discoverable, such as at home.
- Only link social accounts you’re comfortable sharing with strangers nearby.
- Trust your instincts. Leave, block, and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable.
- If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.
Enforcement
Depending on severity we may remove content, issue a warning, temporarily suspend, or permanently ban an account, and we may cooperate with law enforcement when required by law or when someone’s safety is at risk. If you think we made a mistake, email us and we’ll take another look.
